My first week at my new job has gone brilliantly. Everyone has been super friendly and helpful; they've given me timetables and printouts for me to understand my role better.

I have been very, very naughty. In the past week I have succumbed to an astronomical amount of retail therapy. Purchased items include:

• 50s-style black and tan floral dress
• 90s-style inky blue patterned dress
• black dress that cannot be described
• two pairs of fancy bras with matching knickers
• three pairs stockings

This is an awesome red jacket I bought today. Kind of reminiscent of Seargent Pepper's. I am especially fond of it because it's made from sweater-style material so it's really warm and quite flexible. One of the downsides of jackets is the lack of mobility, but not with this one! Love. Cannot wait to wear it.

God I'm utterly slothful when I'm housesitting for my sister. Besides from a two hour stint at the shops where I racked up $150 on my credit card, I've done absolutely nothing except eat pretzels, watch Doctor Who, read Almost French and drift in and out of consciousness. Went shopping today, it was meant to be spirit-lifting and fun. At first it was. I bought a long-sleeved hooded shirt and a sweet peach-coloured t-shirt with a sparrow on it from Jeans West. Note to self: Binge eating when hungry is not advisable, especially when it involves consuming cold lamb, stale chocolate cake and suspicious cookies in quick succession.
